Singer Mandy Patinkin and pianist/producer Thomas Bartlett's Diary: April/May 2018, the second in their Diary series of musical installments, is out now on Nonesuch. The fourteen tracks of this Diary entry, recorded in Bartlett's NYC studio, include two songs written by Patinkin himself plus songs by Randy Newman, Laurie Anderson, Bob Dylan, Patty Griffin, Harry Nilsson, Tom Waits, Lyle Lovett, Taylor Mac, Keren Ann, and Stephen Sondheim. Thomas Bartlett and Nico Muhly's Peter Pears: Ceremonial Music Remixes is out now on Nonesuch. It includes reimagined versions of two tracks from their album Peter Pears: Balinese Ceremonial Music: "Balthasar" remixed by E*vax (of Ratatat) and "Eusebius" remixed by Kid Koala. Drowned in Sound called the album "exceptional ... simultaneously tense and light, dramatic and calming, an originality which few albums can fully lay claim to."

Thomas Bartlett and Nico Muhly's Peter Pears: Balinese Ceremonial Music is out now. The album is nine songs written by the duo plus three gamelan transcriptions by ethnomusicologist Colin McPhee that inspired the songs. Bartlett and Muhly play pianos and keyboards on the album, and Bartlett sings, joined by others on strings and metallic pitched percussion. Bartlett and Muhly perform from Peter Pears at LPR in NYC on May 24, National Concert Hall in Dublin on June 6, and LSO St Luke's in London on June 8.

The Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA (CAP UCLA) has announced its 2018–19 season, and among the artists performing this season, at Royce Hall or the Theatre at Ace Hotel, are Emmylou Harris, Kronos Quartet, Pat Metheny, Tigran Hamasyan, Nico Muhly, and Thomas Bartlett. Subscriptions are on sale now; individual tickets go on sale July 16.

It's nine songs written by the duo plus three gamelan transcriptions by ethnomusicologist Colin McPhee that inspired the songs. Peter Pears is available to preorder with instant downloads of the tracks "Dominic," "Gambangan," and "Festina," videos for which can be seen here. Bartlett and Muhly perform the music in NYC, Dublin, and London this spring.
